I wanna tolk to u bout mixing vocals recorded with realy cheap mic. (this is not 4 people who have good mic). And ill touch lil mastering 2. (in cool edit). Youll prob not understaind everything i sad cos of my english and im sorry bout that.

First, how to record

On clasicc sound card u have 3 conectors. Midi, mic and line in. Ull prob conect ur microfon to mic in but actualy tahat is not good cos ull have alot of noise when youll record your vocals. Whot u need to do is to connect your mic in «line in». Now youll lose hum but volume will be realy low. Thats whay ull need to have amp.
I dont know did u know this but if u dont have money 4 amp. or mixer u can use your Hi-Fi stereo or tape recorder with mic in.(if thay have «mic in» thay have amp. in there 2)
Now connect ur mic in «mic in in your «radio» and line out from «radio» to line in on your soundcard. Wow now with realy cheap mic we have realy good recording actualy.

Mixing

Your beat and all wavs needs to be in16 bit, 44,1 khz. Now open your wavs in cool edit. This should look like this

Now in cool edit open every your vocal sound(flow, chors, back vocals) and normalize them. (transform/amplitude/normalize/100%) and than put some compressor on them. (Transform/Amplitude/Dynamics Processing). Now how to compress…. Maybe the best way would be to take preset by the name «4:1 compressor > 20 dB» and adjust him a lil. Take that right point (in graff) and move her up a lil. It would be ideal if u set cmp. to 3.1 and thats it.

Next thing is eq.. We will use parametric eq. Now bealive it or not but there is universally setup 4 eq (recorded with CHEAP MIC) that u can use on every rap vocals. I dont wanna write bout it so just look the pic.

with –30,-3,-10 we have remove low freq that dont have any part in our vocals. (if uyour voice is missing lil «bass» move –30 to –20)
with 200 hz we thin the voice a lil so he will not have that «tube» sound.
With 19000 we have remove hi freg(removes buzz)

Im sorry i cant explain beter on eng.

Now when u are done with that now set up volume of beat and vocals how u like it.
And thats it, save it to wav and close cool edit.

MASTERING

Its close like NFXs tutorial but with lil adjustments.

Open your mixdown in cool edit and put some compressor (Transform/Amplitude/Dynamics Processing). Set treshold to –30dB and ratio from 1.5:1 to 2:1.
If u didnt get it, in dynamics processing go to traditional and there u can set treshold and ratio. In these faze u can put some eq if he is realy needed.
After that normalize your stuff (Transform/Amplitude/Normalize/100%).

Now lets see how loud is our song. Go to analyse-statistic. Now… Nfx looks peak amplitude but 1 profesionall croatian producer sad u dont have to look that. Infact u mus look total RMS Power… Lets say (for exmp.) your RMS is –18. Correct RMS must be –11. We can do that with Hard Limiter (Transform/Amplitude/Hard Limiting)
Now if our RMS is –18 and we wanna have –11 we must set boost input to 7. (18-11=7) .

Now if under statistic our RMS is –11 our job is DONE.
